CHORUS USING ZOOM FOR MUSIC AND MANAGEMENT MEETINGS . . .
During the recent Covid-19 pandemic, The Rivertones music and management teams have been communicating via online Zoom meetings.Members and several men from the recently interrupted free 8-week Learn To Sing course have also been receiving regular weekly e-mailed newsletters. These have also included a series of on-line ‘Learning the Dots’ tips which have proved both useful and popular.Another useful trial has been the encouragement for members and course and course attendees to record themselves learning progressive short sections of a new song, which they would then send to their music section leader for a friendly criticism/appraisal as to accuracy of notes and words. A big ask for some as most people dislike the sound of their own voice! It is hoped that some of these tracks can be blended together to create a virtual Rivertones performance of the new song – Do You Hear The People Sing (from Les Miserables).A latest development during the current lockdown has been a Zoom get-together of 24 of the chorus members just to have a chat and to ascertain people’s wellbeing. This is being extended to course members too, with the aim of reconvening the LTS course once safe to do so. New men would also be welcome to come along.
Meanwhile, following new guidelines wef 15 August 2020, the chorus is looking at possible arrangements for singing in the open with a maximum of six people . . . and the conditions involved should these take place.
